Strike Witches Licensed in US

strike_witches

Recently FUNimation has announced it has aquired the license to loli-pantsu anime Strike Witches from troubled company Gonzo.

This is going to be very interesting as how FUNimation will market Strike Witches to the American market, as the primary appeal of this anime is the panstu of their rather young cast of characters… The DVD edition of Strike Witches emphasizes this point along with plenty attention to underdeveloped breasts.

It’s highly probable the censored version will be the DVD offering for American viewers, unless they were to reverse import a copy from Japan.

Cosplay kickboxer Yuichiro Nagashima To Cosplay Shana

shana_cosplay_yuichiro-nagashima

News just in a couple of hours ago, Yuichiro Nagashima plans to cosplay Shana from Shakugan no Shana.

For those who are not familiar with Yuichiro Nagashima; he is a kickboxer but not any old kickboxer he’s a Cosplay Kickboxer, yes you heard right he’s a cosplay kickboxer.
And this him he’s back with to beat Albert “The Hurricane” Kraus who threatens to take Yuichiro’s Shana cosplay with him if he wins.

Yuichiro defiant states that if he wins he’ll take something of Albert’s, he continues on saying:

“Albert-ojisan is very macho, so I think I’d like to make him cosplay in a revealing outfit. Perhaps he’d change in the ring for us?”

I think the picture above really says it all…

Touhou on DS and Aliens Attack?

Flying Balloon heads... O_o

So on my usual trawl of Sankaku Complex I stumbled upon an interesting Homebrew game for the Nintendo DS: a recreation of the renowned Touhou manic shooters.

In its current version (as of this post) Touhou DS 0.8 is made up of four stages in the demo level, with most of the fancy text still very much under construction. According to the developer’s site you can muck around with the in-game files letting you adjust the amount of bombs and lifes your character has.

Reimu! Reimu! :3

So how does it play? Well to put it simply it’s quite fun to play when you’re on break or just want to kill a few minutes.
The game currently has a selection of 5 characters from the Touhou games for you to choose all with different bullet patterns, unique bombs, and movement speeds. All make for an interesting play through.

Controls are relatively simple with the D-pad controlling movement, while ‘X,Y,B,A,L & R’ can be configured for Shoot, Focus (concentrating your bullets but sacrificing speed), Bomb, holding down focus and then hitting your bomb button will use your unique Bomb attack.

Its Raining Men Hallelouya... Oh wait...

The boss battles get progressively harder with each boss at each stage gaining more lives forcing you to kill them many times over before defeating them, enemies are relatively easy to kill but again get harder to kill as the stages progress and the bullet patterns get crazier and more interesting as you get to the higher stages.
Collecting drops from enemies makes your attacks not only stronger but changes your shots adding more firepower or better coverage (spread shot) dieing results in you losing your powerup one rank at a time until you only have your weakest attack with barely any coverage and poor power.
A word of warning, for those who have not played Touhou will find themselves dieing a lot as a single hit will kill you, but luckily it does offer you a chance to restart the current stage instead of having to start over from the beginning.
The graphics as a whole are quite good for a DS game, the interface is still relatively rough but workable allowing you to easily navigate the menus, and the soundtrack is brilliant in all its sorta-midi greatness.
Overall I’ve found the game very amusing, fun and a good time killer.
Can’t wait for the next version to come out.

I’d highly recommend this game to those looking for something to kill time on their DS, so long as you have an R4 or similar cartridge.

From the looks of it ‘Weeaboo’ the developer is also developing a DS port for other games the one that draws most of my attention is the awesome Fate/Stay Night visual novel which I am currently in the process of downloading, I’ll report back on here when I’ve given it a spin.

In other news Atomic Magazine reports that the Australian Board of Classification website was hacked by aliens.

Striped Pantsu FTW!

So after much procrastination I’ve finally gotten around to writing up a review for my now one month old figurine of Asa Shigure from the game Shuffle!

I was originally typing this up while in Europe riding the TGV from Montpellier to Paris unfortunately the original text was wiped, and I hadn’t bothered to save a draft so enough waffling from me, on to the review.

Out of the box the figurine comes with no extra bits and pieces, the figurine is pre-attached to its base. The base feels somewhat flimsy but the figure itself is secured tightly with a screw underneath.

It is very obvious that the sculptors at Craftsmanship Kotobukiya put a lot of effort into making this an almost mirror image of the events of Shuffle!

The level of detail put into the figurine is amazing; all the creases and details of her panties are actually modeled, the buckles and their corresponding holes are also done in much detail.

Colours are very vibrant and fairly accurate to the original cgs from the visual novel, the way the painters have done her blush is amazing; being at the same time noticeable but subtle unless you actually look at the figurine.

Of course the expression of Asa Shigure’s face is executed brilliantly and genuinely gives you a feeling that she is damn embarrassed about being walked in on.

Finally what are my final thoughts on my purchase?

It was damn worth every penny, the quality is great, the scene is accurate and it looks great on my desk.

If I was to find a fault it would be that the figurine is not big enough if only the sculptors made her just a bit bigger say 20mm taller.

Otherwise I am a very satisfied customer and am looking forward to more of the other figurines being released by Craftsmanship Kotobukiya.

On a side note the figurine is actually part of a series called ’4-Leaves’ being currently in the works at Craftsmanship Kotobukiya it features the lovely ladies of other animes such as Chizuru Minamoto from Kanokon.

Oh yes, here are some pics to feast your eyes on.
