The Australian National Botanic Gardens have been hosting their Summer Sounds series last month featuring Jazz and dance talent. Of course this means an opportunity to sharpen my skills at photographing bands.
With an day off work I decided to clear my calendar and head off to the Botanic Gardens to photograph Annie and the Armadillos. Hope y’all enjoy the set!

Visit to the zoo

Last week I went for the first time in a while to the National Zoo and Aquarium, Canberra’s own little piece of animal heaven. It was an opportunity for me to give the Tamron 70-200 a good workout and get in some animal shots.
Unfortunately for me my laziness for not going the previous day had penalised me with the lack of big cats since they were all hiding in the shade from the sweltering sun.
Luckily I was able to get some good reptile shots and managed to get really close to get a few portraits of the Wallabies in the native animals display. Anyway I won’t bore you with more talk, enjoy the photos and if you like them leave a comment.

Thunderstruck Kickboxing Fight Night

Earlier this month I went to a fight night (yes that one I talked about in my last post) and these were the photos that resulted. Overall I am fairly happy with the shots that resulted. Though I had a few handling issues with the Tamron 70-200 on an ungripped D7000.
Hopefully this should be remedied as I have a new grip which should make the camera less front heavy. Anyway enough of me rambling feel free to browse the slightly large set.

Skidpan Day Photos

I went to a skidpan day with Lardman a few months back and got my first taste of photographing cars in action. Although I processed the photos of the day I never ended up posting them.
Until now after trawling through my hard drives I discovered them languishing and unloved. Unloved they are no more and have now been [finally] posted.

Works of fire [Skyfire 2011]

Went to Skyfire 2011 last weekend, a bit peeved that I missed the F-18s. Having spent a good amount of time looking for a park, I settled for a spot at Old Parliament House. Unfortunately, I had to run all the way to the National Library arriving barely time to setup for the fireworks. Here are the photos that I was happy with, enjoy!

Civic GLBT Protest

Last weekend I went out to Civic to cover a GLBT protest addressing the issue of same-sex marriages. It was a hot day, the sun was blinding but overall the event produced some really nice photographs. Here are the fruits of my labour:

This was what I ended up with. The photo was taken in the same time frame as Blue Car was photographed. While I was stuck out in Civic waiting for a tow truck.

Stonefest 2010 Photos

I won a ticket to go to Stonefest 2010 recently (mainly to see Pendulum live). These were the photos I managed to get from my point and shoot. Apparently my K-7 with a short 50mm was ‘professional’. Anyway enough of me, enjoy the gallery!
