Lastly I went to the RX8 Nationals with Lardman to shoot some RX8 and 7s going fast around the track at Wakefield Park.

In other news, I finally picked up my Makinami Mari Illustrious figurine (Max Factory version) from the post office. She stands a little under 30cm and is one of my larger (taller) figurines. Clad in a pink plug suit and donning and eager look on her face, she is ready to pount some Angels into dust.

Anyway I did a shoot with both figurines, I hope you enjoy the photos!

First off a bit of background as to who Sanya is:

Sanya V. Litvyak hailing from the cold regions of the Orussian Empire she is the 2nd youngest member of the 501st, she has limited contact with the other members of the team and sometimes is seen asleep on her feet relying on Eila to move her around this is due to her duties as the resident night fighter.
Her magical abilities mimic those of radar enabling her to sense activity beyond visual range and also able to pick up on signals such as radio waves, this ability when used manifests as antennas that resemble those used on German Lichtenstein radar sets. Sanya’s striker is the MiG60 a fictional warbird that combines the features of the MiG-1, MiG-3 and Yak-1 and when equipped she gains the ears and tail of a black cat.
Her pilot archetype is based off the real world ace Lydia Litvyak.

She’s a recent release from Alter only just out in mid July for the modest cost of 6,630 yen at Hobby Search. Being an Alter release the quality is top notch a variable A+ job, oddly enough she’s still available for purchase as of writing this post which is somewhat understandable as there isn’t a huge as following for Sanya as the other girls.

True to her night fighter duties she is posed flying on a one can imagine a routine patrol, this particular instance of Sanya is much more conservative than Kotobukiya’s version released September 2009 and to be honest captures Sanya’s essence so to speak much better especially her facial expression.
Details are well painted, neat and decals applied flawlessly resulting in an amazing show piece.

Her iconic rocket launcher ‘Fliegerhummer’ is held at the ready in her hands and a magnet inside her head prevents the rocket launcher from slipping from it’s position, she’s attached to the mounting plate with a small metal peg which connects to the bottom of one of her striker units, which have interchangeable propellers one set of simulated action and the other normal props.
I suspect that in a few months time she’ll be quite sought after by collectors as aside from being a high quality Alter figurine, she’s incredibly cute to have on your desk or display case. Who doesn’t want a girl to protect their desk from the Neuroi invasion?

Anyway it looks like I’ll be even more broke than I am now if Alter decides to release an Eila figurine as having Sanya is not complete without her best friend Eila.

Before that since it was a Sunday we went to church service with our family friends who are kind enough to host us (props to them) here in Perth, the church was Sunset Coast Church.
It was a very eye opening experience to say the least, my old view of the classic preacher in church was blown out of the water in fact when we rocked up to service it was like entering some sort of rock concert with performers on a large stage and singing evangelistic music.
The service was pretty standard affair with awesome musical interludes in-between: Church news, explanation of scripture, prayer and passing around the donation buckets the general stuff you’d expect from going to church.
The musical interludes I have to admit were of extremely high quality and the whole operation was damn slick complete with charismatic preacher.

Anyway after service it was Wai-con time dispite having to take serveral detours, and parking 5 minutes short of the convention center we eventually made our way to the venue.

After paying and getting our passes we proceeded to get stuck into the event browsing the various stalls, checking out what they have on offer and of course checking out the cosplays.

I was originally typing this up while in Europe riding the TGV from Montpellier to Paris unfortunately the original text was wiped, and I hadn’t bothered to save a draft so enough waffling from me, on to the review.

Out of the box the figurine comes with no extra bits and pieces, the figurine is pre-attached to its base. The base feels somewhat flimsy but the figure itself is secured tightly with a screw underneath.

It is very obvious that the sculptors at Craftsmanship Kotobukiya put a lot of effort into making this an almost mirror image of the events of Shuffle!

The level of detail put into the figurine is amazing; all the creases and details of her panties are actually modeled, the buckles and their corresponding holes are also done in much detail.

Colours are very vibrant and fairly accurate to the original cgs from the visual novel, the way the painters have done her blush is amazing; being at the same time noticeable but subtle unless you actually look at the figurine.

Of course the expression of Asa Shigure’s face is executed brilliantly and genuinely gives you a feeling that she is damn embarrassed about being walked in on.

Finally what are my final thoughts on my purchase?

It was damn worth every penny, the quality is great, the scene is accurate and it looks great on my desk.

If I was to find a fault it would be that the figurine is not big enough if only the sculptors made her just a bit bigger say 20mm taller.

Otherwise I am a very satisfied customer and am looking forward to more of the other figurines being released by Craftsmanship Kotobukiya.

On a side note the figurine is actually part of a series called ’4-Leaves’ being currently in the works at Craftsmanship Kotobukiya it features the lovely ladies of other animes such as Chizuru Minamoto from Kanokon.
